India'S Wool Textile Imports Increased By 56.61%

From April to October of 2007 to 2008, India's textile product imports reached US $16531.2 billion. Imports increased by 8.29% over the same period of 2006-07. However, in terms of rupees, it fell 4.05% year on year.

From April to December of 2007 to 2009, the import value of other textiles was 765 million US dollars, accounting for the largest proportion of total imports (46.28%). The import of these products increased by 11% over the same period of 2006-07. The import value of man-made fiber yarn is 4442.3 million US dollars, which is the second largest import product. It accounts for 26.87% of the total imports in the same period. The import of man-made fiber yarn fell 0.37% last month, but increased 0.37% this month.

In recent months, the import growth rate of wool textiles was the largest. From April to December of 2007-08, the proportion of ready-made clothes increased by 56.61% compared with the same period of 2006-07. The value of ready-made clothing imports is 81.37 million dollars, including 41.02 million dollars of wool textiles imports.

China is the largest supplier country. From April to December 2007, China exported 740.31 million dollars of textile products to India, accounting for 44.78% of India's total imports.

Compared with April December of 2006-07, China's exports grew by 18.55% from April December of 2007-08. China's exports of all products rank first, with the exception of wool and cotton clothing. Bangladesh has the largest export scale of wool and cotton clothing. Bangladesh's wool and cotton clothing exports are worth US $28.3 billion. Compared with April December of 2006-07, Bangladesh's exports grew by more than 200% from April December of 2007-08.

In addition to China, exports of Italy, Japan and Thailand all saw growth. Among them, Italy's export growth was the largest, 37.49%.

Among the countries and regions whose exports declined, Taiwan's exports fell the most, 8.88%
