SGS Helps Canton Fair Enterprises Cope With Technical Barriers To Textile And Apparel In Europe And America

The seminar on "common restricted material requirements for textiles and garments in Europe and America, and interpretation of recent regulations and WRAP social responsibility certification requirements" was held at the Canton Fair Exhibition Hall 31, which helps Chinese enterprises to understand the latest textile and apparel products in Europe and the United States.

Dr. Bao Ping, technical manager of SGS textile inspection department, said that in recent years, with the gradual improvement of the quality and safety requirements of textile and apparel products in European and American countries, the influence and restriction of "technical barriers to trade" in Chinese export enterprises are becoming more and more obvious. Enterprises need to pay close attention to the latest regulatory requirements at home and abroad and adjust production processes to meet the requirements in time, which virtually increases the cost of enterprises and increases the risk of trade.

At the seminar, Bao Ping interpreted the EU REACH regulations, the CPSIA regulations and other common restricted substances in the industry in recent years, and made special emphasis on the recent exposure of the "poison clothing gate" incident by Greenpeace and the prohibition of chemical substances in REACH regulations, such as APEO.

SGS's technical experts also exchanged views with Chinese enterprises on textile and garment quality control, supply chain management and factory audit.
